Juan Arana is an architect graduated from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, has a postgraduate Diploma with Distinction from the Bartlett, University College London.

After working in a number of architecture studios including Daniel Libeskind Studio in Berlin, he became founding member of the Madrid based office Equipo Bloque Arquitectos, specialized both in the fields of architecture as in urban design. The office research focuses on urban regeneration and cooperative housing models. Among other projects and competitions the office obtained a first tier price in the competition of ideas for the New Administrative City of Korea 2006.  Juan teaches Urban Design at the School of Architecture at CEU San Pablo University since 2007 and his current research as a Phd candidate focuses on public space, having published various articles on the subject.
